Our survey only takes about 4 - 8 minutes to complete and is designed to pass 80% - 90% of employees.  This translates to an "employee friendly" experience.

Case Study

Situation -

An HR executive working for a manufacturer with approximately 500 employees enrolled with one or more dependents needed to demonstrate its commitment to governance to the new owners. While HR knew it "ran a tight ship" it also realized the medical plan's costs were too high and were unsustainable.  Many of the high cost claimants were for dependent spouses and children. Eventhough the HR team expected to find very few ineligible dependents, it chose to conduct a dependent audit.

Approach -

The client selected HR Best Practices to verify the plan's dependents.  Since spousal claims costs were also higher than desired, a working spouse survey was embedded into the dependent review. Every employee with one or more dependents was required to call the automated telephone survey to verify the eligibility of each dependent and provide information about his/her spouse's employment and other health insurance information.

Results -

Since our automated telephone survey was so fast and easy for employees to call 100% of the employees participated in the audit.  Much to management's surprise, 5% of the dependents were ineligible.  The working spouse learnings vis-a-vis employee-provided data also gave management the requisite insights to develop a practical, data-driven working spouse provision.
